Mid February 2020
To my joy I managed to catch a 2 day gap in the near constant rain here in Carmarthenshire, and got to Laugharne in time to catch a rapidly rising Spring Tide at dawn. Using a tripod, a 10 second delay to avoid any movement, and a very long exposure, I got some good shots, (see Laugharne Gallery above) but one I was hoping for didn’t turn out how I planned it. A sailing boat on the high tide at dawn was a lovely subject, and I took great care to get the boat in focus in the low light. What I didn’t factor in was that the water was moving and so was the boat! The heron was an extra – I didn’t see him when I took the picture, but knowing herons I was not surprised that he stood absolutely still for the 15 second exposure!
